The collaboration between IAS and Hyundai Motor Group commenced in South Korea and has since expanded to several countries, with active implementations in Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. Supported by a team of approximately 200 engineers and coordinated through IAS’s international offices, this project represents one of the company’s largest cross-border ERP implementations to date.

The automotive industry, which reached an estimated value of $2.75 trillion in 2025, is undergoing a profound transformation. According to KPMG’s 25th Global Automotive Executive Survey, 36% of industry leaders anticipate that their business models and operations will fundamentally transform within the next three years. Among the prominent key drivers, we observe that 86% of manufacturers are making significant investments in new technologies, including artificial intelligence, while 77% place strategic partnerships at the core of sustainable growth.
Hyundai Motor Group’s selection of IAS to digitalize its production processes with Canias ERP stems from IAS’s extensive experience and ongoing investments in this domain.
Project Scope and Timeline
The partnership advanced to the development phase with the Proof of Concept agreement signed in April 2024. With South Korea established as the operational base, the project was structured as a joint endeavor between IAS and Hyundai AutoEver, the mobility software arm of Hyundai Motor Group.
Throughout the 18-month implementation period, more than 100 system integrations were executed, IAS teams conducted over 100 international travels, and more than 1,000 documents were prepared. The primary objective of the project was to rebuild Hyundai Motor Group’s CKD (Completely Knock Down) vehicle production processes on the Canias ERP platform.
Geographical Expansion
The initial go-live of the system took place at Hyundai Motor’s Malaysia facility in July 2025. This was followed by simultaneous launches at the Kia Kazakhstan and Hyundai Motor Saudi Arabia facilities in October 2025. The modular architecture of Canias ERP enabled the system to adapt to distinct local regulations and production requirements via a single, unified platform.
The First Vehicle Produced on the New Infrastructure
A significant milestone was achieved at Hyundai Motor Group’s Kazakhstan facility: the first Kia Sorento was produced utilizing the Canias ERP infrastructure. To celebrate the project’s completion, IAS hosted a special ceremony at the historic Kibrithane building in Istanbul; engineers and project leaders who contributed to the implementation signed the vehicle produced with the new system.

This collaboration consolidates Hyundai Motor Group’s operational objectives in Asia and the Middle East under a single ERP platform, while also reflecting the increasingly vital role of cross-border software partnerships in the automotive sector.
